Lent Starts Today in Georgia

Today marks the start of Lent. It will last until April 8th, when Orthodox Georgians will celebrate Easter. Easter is celebrated on a different date each year, as it is determined by the position of the moon and spring equinox.

Usually, lent begins seven weeks before Easter, and sees participants give up on meat and dairy products.
