Gov’t Launches Strategic Communication Improvement Program
The Government of Georgia has launched the Strategic Communication Improvement Program, which envisages holding trainings for representatives of state institutions and agencies.
The project is being carried out with the assistance of the United States and aims at strengthening the capacities of the Georgian government and local authorities, improving existing communication and coordination systems, and raising the skills of communication specialists and relevant public servants.
Along with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the US Ambassador to Georgia, Jan Kelly and Levan Dolidze, Director of the Georgian Center for Security and Development (GCSD), took part in the ceremony held at the government administration on February 20.
“Today, when many states, especially Russia, actively use different methods and means for producing hybrid war, strategic communication has become the most powerful weapon for forming social idea and also for producing direct policy,” the PM stated while delivering speech.
Kvirikashvili underlined that in this reality, cooperation with the US has become even more important for Georgia.
“Our strategic partner, the United States, always stands by the side of Georgia and we think this program is another very important expression of this special friendship. I want to personally thank Mr. Jan Kelly for his support,” the PM added.
The US ambassador stated it is important that Georgia developed a strategic plan for communication both inside and outside the country.
“We are interested to get you closer to the West and join NATO and the EU. Therefore it is very important that you had the support from the public and had clear messages that your people understood you are interested in joining western and not northern society," Ian Kelly said.
