Members of Georgian Parliament on Official Visit to Jordan
Members of Georgian Parliament are a few days into an official visit to the Kingdom of Jordan, led by Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze, which will run from February 25 – March 1.
Kobakhidze met with the Speaker of Jordan’s House of Representatives, Atef Tarawneh, on February 26. The two men promised to work closely together in partnership on a number of issues, such as economic and political cooperation and parliamentary relations.
On the same day, Kobakhidze and the Georgian delegation met with the Jordanian Parliament on the subject of the close alliance between Georgia and Jordan. Cooperation between the two nations was also discussed. According to Georgian MP Mamuka Mdinaradze, Jordanian members of this alliance were invited to Georgia.
Kobahidze met with Head of the upper chamber of the Jordanian legislature, Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez, On February 27. The pair discussed economic issues and stressed the importance of the Silk Road project.
The situation around Georgia’s Russian-occupied territories was also brought up at the meeting. Georgian Parliament said that Faisal Al-Fayez re-emphasized Jordan’s support for Georgia.
Kobakhidze is also set to meet with Jordan’s Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki in the forthcoming days.
