Gov't Launches Competition to Select Commercial Attachés

Georgian government has announced competition for commercial attachés, who will be appointed to foreign countries to promote Georgian export and attract more investments.

The contest started on March 6 and will be completed in two weeks. The interested people should visit web page hr.gov.ge to take part in the competition.

Georgia’s Minister of Economy, Dimitry Kumsishvili said that professionals with at least 5 year experience in the private sector, in international trade or investments or in the financial sector are eligible to take part in the contest.

“For now we have selected six countries where we will send the commercial attachés: The United States, Germany, Turkey, Great Britain, United Arab Emirates and China,” the minister said, adding this is a pilot project and will involve more countries in the future.

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated at Thursday’s governmental session that the new project will be a very important stimulus to encourage exports from Georgia and to attract investments in the country.

“This is, of course, the beginning. Attachés in these countries will also have a function to cover nearby countries as well…Gradually we will continue to deploy commercial attachés in all priority markets,” the PM added.
