Businessman Shot Dead in Brutal Killing
A bizarre and obscure shooting took place yesterday afternoon in the streets of Tbilisi, leaving one man dead.
Near Chabua Amirejibi Highway, a young man was shot seven times and died at the scene of the incident. The police investigation is still underway to determine the identity of the shooter as well as the motivation behind this brutal act.
Neighbors identified the deceased person as businessmen Nugzar Kakhidze. Witnesses have reported that an anonymous man entered the apartment area, knocking at the door of the home of the young man, pretending to be a representative of the Bank of Georgia. While welcoming the gunman at the door, the killer immediately opened fire on the young businessman, shooting seven live bullets. After the shots were fired, he immediately left the area, leaving no obvious glues to trace his whereabouts.
The police were notified right after the shooting and arrived on scene minutes later, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. After the death of the victim was determined, the police launched formal investigations into wilful homicide under Article 108 and 236 of the Georgian Criminal Code. Additional to wilful homicide, the articles cover illegal purchase, storage, carrying, manufacturing, transportation, forwarding or sale of firearms.
