President of Belarus Arrives in Georgia
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has begun his official visit to Georgia today. The official reception was held at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi.
President Lukashenko and President Margvelashvili will discuss political cooperation, prospects for developing multilateral relations with international organizations, and regional security and environmental challenges.
According to Margvelashvili’s Advisor for Foreign Affairs, Tengiz Pkhaladze, Georgian-Belarusian relations have overseen impressive outcomes over the last three years. The Embassy of Belarus was opened on Tbilisi, investments have grown and tourism and trade turnover has also increased.
“We will sign extremely important agreements as part of this visit that will facilitate free movement and intensify trade-economic and transport cooperation.
Therefore, this visit is crucial for further development of our bilateral relations. All the agreements reached between the two presidents within the last three years are fulfilled. This cooperation will be further developed for the benefit of our country,” Pkhaladze said.
As part of the visit, Lukashenko and Margvelashvili will make joint media statements.
A celebration of the Minsk Days will kick off in Tbilisi, while the Georgia-Belarus Business Forum will be held.
