President Lukashenko: I Feel at Home in Georgia

President Lukashenko spoke of his great respect for Georgia at his face-to-face meeting with President Margvelashvili at the Avlabari Palace.

"I've been a president for a long time. I have been to different countries. In fact, I have traveled all over the world, but I sincerely say that I always come to Georgia with great respect. I am visiting Tbilisi for the second time. I've also been to Sokhumi. Unfortunately, now nobody can go to Sokhumi.

"This is a nice place, my favorite place. I always come to Georgia with great respect. I know that warm and decent people will greet me here, like it is in Belarus. I feel here like I am at home. I learned a lot from Georgia, especially during the Soviet Union. Georgian men were the most successful and rich, and every girl loved them. That's why we have such good feelings towards you. I want to assure you that we always want to take steps towards cooperation with Georgia. I think our trade turnover will reach 200 million this year," the Belarusian President said.

President Margvelashvili also praised Georgian-Belarusian relations, claiming they are an example to other countries.

"I'm glad that I have the opportunity to host you in friendly Georgia and continue our relationship. In my opinion, relations between Belarus and Georgia are exemplary for many other countries. This is an example of how countries should work for the benefit of their own citizens.

"It is important that we will sign several agreements, including the framework agreement, which determines the development of Belarus-Georgia relations within the next decades. Thank you for your personal friendship and for what you are doing for Georgia and Georgians," Margvelashvili told Lukashenko.
