Georgian Authors in London for 6th Time
A new Georgian literature booth is to be showcased at the upcoming London Book Fair next month, allowing bookworms to discover the latest publications by Georgian authors and marking the sixth time Georgian books are represented in London.
The Georgian National Book Center is supporting the Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association (GPBA) in their efforts to internationalize Georgian-produced literature. The fair welcomes its visitors at the Olympia Exhibition Hall in Hammersmith, London, a place known to hold numerous events throughout the year.
The two Georgian exhibitors have set themselves the goal to present Georgian culture in a unique and mesmerizing way allowing international visitors to "become lost" in Georgian literature.
A special theme was designed, called 'Georgia Made by Characters,' which spotlights Georgia by presenting country-related information through its alphabet, enabling visitors to get to know the unique Georgin alphabet by using it in an interactive and amusing manner.
In light of the huge Georgian diaspora in the United Kingdom, and in extension the United States, book fairs are a crucial platform for Georgian writers and publishers to showcase their work.
Efforts appealing to an international audience are high, with publishers and authors regularly presenting books and other written medium at literature fairs outside the country. Earlier this month, numerous Georgian authors participated at the Leipzig Book Fair in Germany, supported by the Georgian ministry , which, in exchange hosted two German writers in Tbilisi for translation works. The fair allowed Georgian writers, such as Burchuladze and Kharatishvili, to exhibit their books in Berlin, Cologne, Halle, Frankfurt, Vienna and Salzburg
For those in London from April 10-12, the stand will be located in Area 5D118 at the Olympia Exhibition Hall. Literature enthusiasts can get their tickets at http://www.londonbookfair.co.uk/
