Georgian Shepherd Detained by Occupying Tskhinvali Border Police

The illegally occupying Russian forces in Tskhinvali have detained a local resident near the village of Plavismani, Gori district.

Tamaz Iluridze and his neighbor Gela Giunashvili were doing what all Georgian shepherds do to sustain their livelihood: herding their animals. Armed personnel appeared in the distance to detain the two men. Giunashvili managed to escape, but Iluridze had less luck and was forced to accompany the Russian border guards.

After informing the police, Giunashvili maintained that they had been herding on Georgian-controlled territory and not behind the borderline of occupied Tskhinvali. Authorities hope now to arrange the rapid release of Tamaz Iluridze.
