UK Tastes Georgian Wines
It is a tour of a special type. British cities get exposed to Georgian wines as sommeliers and wine connoisseurs travel through the country to offer the delicious red juice.
London was first on the list this week with different wine tasting sessions allowing locals and tourists alike to participate in the tasting. Masterclasses accompanied the tastings as star sommeliers explained the different notes of the taste, their exact origin, and the winemaking procedures.
The promulgation of the Qvevri tradition is one of the key concepts explained to guests, with Qvevri wines produced by small and big wineries all across the country. To Europeans, the concept of non-wooden-barrel wine is still largely unknown.
Over 100 Georgian wines were selected for the UK tasting by well-known wine experts Sarah Abbott MW and Robert Joseph.
The event also focuses on European wineries using the Georgian Qvevri winemaking method. The Georgian Embassy to the UK strongly supports the cultural marketing campaign. “One of the most remarkable participants of the wine tasting event was the UK-based company Artisan Cru Marani, which produces European wines in Qvevri at Plumpton College, thus raising the profile of this Georgian wine-making technology in the UK, especially with students,” the Embassy noted.
Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, and Cardiff are the next locations for the wine tasting, allowing British people in different cities to experience the same mesmerizing wines as Londoners have this week.
