Georgian Police Arrest 9 Drug Dealers
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that they have arrested 2 drug dealers who sold drugs online and 7 people who were selling drugs on the territory of Georgia.
On May 8, Deputy Foreign Minister Natia Mezvrishvili stated that the two men, arrested for selling drugs by internet, were using a special mobile application to contact the people and provide them with drugs.
The arrested men are 24 and 27 years old and were arrested in Tbilisi.
“People who wanted to buy drugs were using the online application to contact the dealers. After ordering the desired type and amount of drugs, the buyer received notification indicating the account number and amount to pay. After transferring the money to this account, the clients were sent a photo on the same application, indicating the location of the drug,” Mezvirishvili stated at a special press conference.
The Deputy Foreign Minister added that a large amount of drugs were also seized from the flat and car of one of the dealers.
Furthermore, on May 7, the MIA stated that 7 more people had been arrested for taking drugs.
The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department arrested the dealers as a result of operative-search and investigative activities in Marneuli and Ponichala.
“An investigation is in progress of the fact of illegal purchase, storage and sale of a large amount of drugs under Article 260, parts IV and VI of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” the Internal Affairs Ministry said on Monday.
