Ultra-Nationalist Counter Rally Kicks off in Central Tbilisi

The ultra-nationalist, far right group Georgian National Unity has launched a counter-rally in central Tbilisi.

The protesters are now at Tabukashvili Street near the old building of parliament, where a large-scale, anti-drug policy rally is being held by a large number of youth who are protesting Friday night's police raids in two Tbilisi nightclubs.

Giorgi Chelidze, the leader of the Georgian National Unity, says they are going to form groups and fight the protesters outside the parliament building, saying the majority of them are “drug-addicts, LGBT supporters and Soros-founded NGOs.”

Chelidze says even more people are to join them soon, noting that their demand is the introduction of a death penalty for drug dealers.

Some people think the situation is escalating, as the national group members are quite upset, threatening they will be brutal if necessary.
