Georgia Improves Its Position in ICCA Rating
The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the professional network for the global meetings industry, has released its 2017 statistics. Georgia's position rose by six points compared to 2016. The rankings reflect the number of meetings held in a country per year and the total number of attendees at meetings.
The Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) reports that in 2014-2017 Georgia's rankings rose by 16 points and took first place in the Caucasus and Central Asia region, leading Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Qatar and Monaco.
GNTA says they created Convention and Exhibition Bureau, which arranges different meetings, promotional tours, conferences, and exhibitions in order to attract international events to Georgia and support them and to raise awareness about Georgia's tourism potential abroad.
The Convention and Exhibition Bureau has 44 members of the business community, uniting leading hotels, event and tourism companies in Georgia.
ICCA represents the world's leading suppliers in handling, transporting and accommodating international meetings and events, and now comprises over 1,100 member companies and organizations in almost 100 countries worldwide. ICCA has specialized in the international association meetings sector since its establishment 55 years ago, offering data, communication channels, and business development opportunities.
The annual ICCA country and city rankings report is the most respected global comparison of destinations’ performance in attracting international meetings.
