Prime Minister to Saralidze: Your Tragedy Is My Tragedy Too

At the meeting with Zaza Saralidze, the father of the murdered teenager, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili once again expressed his condolences and stated the death of two minors in central Tbilisi, in December, is as much a tragedy for him.

"Unfortunately, I have not been able to meet you in a peaceful situation. I want to offer you my sympathy, again,” the PM told Saralidze and a meeting held in the afternoon of June 4, at the governmental administration.

The meeting was attended by Saralidze’s lawyer, Public Defender, Nino Lomjaria, Interior Minister, Giorgi Gakharia and the Head of the Governmental Administration, Shalva Tadumadze.

According to the government's administration, the Prime Minister listened to the questions that are related to the murder case of Davit Saralidze.

Interior Minister provided Saralidze with the latest information about the renewed investigation and it was agreed that the Interior Ministry would periodically inform the father of the victim about the new circumstances in the case via the mediation of the Ombudsman.

A similar meeting was held between the parents of the second minor who died and the PM.

Two teenagers, Levan Dadunashvi and Davit Saralidze were brutally stabbed to death in a street brawl on Khorava Street, Central Tbilisi on December 1, 2017.

On May 31, Tbilisi City Court charged two minors – one for the premeditated murder of Dadunashvili and the second for attempted murder of Saralidze, however, the court could not say who killed Saralidze, which sparked mass protests in the capital.

Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor Irakli Shotadze resigned amid the protest rallies, while the Prime Minister ordered to re-investigate the case as there are many questions left.

Saralidze’s father gave authorities time until June 10th to show him concrete results and arrest his son’s killer, otherwise he claimed to take more radical steps.
