‘Rally of Boots’ Held at the Gov’t Administration
A protest rally was held at the governmental Administration on the evening of June 6, to which protesters brought many pairs of rain boots.
The organizers of the rally explained that the aim of the rally was to protest against the decision of the administration to delete a number of public comments from the Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili’s official Facebook page.
The protesters claim the government is using special bots and computer programs to increase the number of likes on the PM’s posts, adding that the administration “is often deleting critical and negative comments,” which is unacceptable.
“With these boots, we are protesting against the PM’s bots,” the protesters said.
Some people say they have saved screenshots of messages that were deleted by the administration several minutes after they were posted.
The governmental administration admitted that they have deleted some comments, saying they were “unethical.”
“One of the PM's posts underwent a viral attack, or 'trolling,' which is used by specific groups of Facebook users to express protest. Increased reactions to the post were followed by unethical comments, which were deleted,” the statement of the governmental administration reads.
