4 Dead, 21 Hospitalized After School Excursion Minibus Crash in Georgia

4 people died, including one schoolchild, and 21 were injured after the minibus, taking schoolchildren to the excursion fell into the ravine on Gombori mountain pass and crashed on Saturday.

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that 16 out of the total 21 injured are children.

An investigation is underway under 7th part of the Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving violation of traffic safety rules or rules for operating resulting the death of two or more persons.

The crime envisages imprisonment for 6-10 years.

According to MIA, the driver of the minibus has been detained.

The Ministry of Health reports that the injured have been hospitalized to Telavi Referal Hospital after the crash.

Davit Sergeenko, Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, visited the injured people. According to him, the health condition of the hospitalized is normal and no complications are expected.
