Kvirikashvili Remembers June 13 Floods

PM Kvirikashvili, prior to his resignation today, spoke of the 2015 floods that devastated a central part of Georgia's capital city on June 13. 21 people lost their lives and the zoo population was cut in half.

"June 13, 2015 was a great day of suffering and pain for the whole country," the PM said. "I would like to respect once again the memory of victims of the disaster and sympathize with their families."

The sacrifice our rescuers made saved the lives of dozens of people, Kvirikashvili added. "Zurab Muzashvili is one such example, who saved eight lives but lost his own, and who will remain in our hearts forever."

"In those difficult days, together with the state structures, all of us stood up to eradicate the effects of the disaster, especially our young people - they stood there where a true citizen should stand. On June 13, 2015, we witnessed a common commitment and a day of true solidarity in Georgia," he said.
