Double Speed from Azerbaijan to Turkey

The time to travel from the checkpoint "Red Bridge" (Georgian-Azerbaijani border) to the checkpoint "Sarpi" (Georgian-Turkish border) is to be reduced to just four hours, claims the Head of the Department of Roads of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Irakli Karseladze.

"The total length of the corridor will be reduced, the time of travel will be reduced, and where today it takes seven to eight hours to cover the section from "Red Bridge" to "Sarpi," after completion of work the time will be reduced to 4-4.5 hours," he said, addressing the diplomatic community regarding Georgia's large-scale infrastructure project.

He announced that soon the Ministry plans to announce a tender for construction works in the Ricoti Pass, which connects Western and Eastern Georgia, of a road of over 50 kilometers. Also, changes are planned on the section of the road Kvesheti - Kobi, which will be part of the highway of international importance Mtskheta - Stepantsminda - Lars, a road leading to the side of the Kazbegi-Upper Lars (Georgian-Russian border). This will consist of a length of 22.7 kilometers..

To implement these projects as a whole, about $2 billion will be spent, Karseladze announced.
