Money Transfers in Georgia up in May
In May 2018, the volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia amounted to $130.4 million (320.1 million GEL), which is 13% ($15 million) more than the amount of money transfers in May 2017.
The information was released by the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), which says that 93.1% of the total money transfers from abroad came from the 16 largest donor countries, with the volume of transfers from these countries each exceeding $1 million in May 2018.
In May 2017, the share of these 16 countries constituted 93.0% of the total volume of money transfers.
In May 2018, $19.6 million (48.2 million GEL) was transferred from Georgia, which is around $1.4 million more compared to the data of May 2017 - $18.2 million (44.1 million GEL).
