Iran, Georgia Bankcard Systems Integration

Iran has proposed to integrate its bankcard systems with Georgia’s in a move to boost tourism revenues for the two countries.

The proposal was made by Iran’s Minister of Economic and Finance Affairs Masoud Karbasian in a meeting with the visiting members of the Georgian parliament.

“The groundwork for banking cooperation between the two countries will be established in a way that would allow the use of bankcards of Iran and Georgia by the people in each other’s countries,” Karbasian said.

Last December, it was announced that Iran and Russia were in the test process to integrate their banking payment systems.

The process of building infrastructure for integration with international payment systems will take at least 10 months
