Car Park Technical Inspection Announced by Mayor

Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi, announced a car park technical inspection to be mandatory for vehicle owners. Starting from 1 July, those with a registered Georgian number must pass the periodic technical inspection. The process has been initiated since the start of the year but has been ineffective. 2,500 vehicle owners were fined due to not abiding to periodic inspection. As a result, special cameras will be placed throughout the city that will fine vehicles automatically. 

The first major step to reduce the effect of air pollution. Pollution is a disaster for Georgia and this initiative will be a first step to reducing the effects of air pollution.  

On 3 January 2018, at the initiative of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, hotline 1484 was launched, serving people interested in additional information regarding technical inspection.
