Gov Agencies to Auction off Vehicles

By the end of this year, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has announced, a large number of government-owned vehicles will be auctioned off.

Bakhtadze shared the plan at a government briefing on Wednesday. Vehicles from various state agencies will be sold. Bakhtadze explained that vehicle maintenance costs have exceeded reasonable amounts.

State vehicle ownership will be reduced by as many as 1,000 cars, which will be transferred to the Ministry of Finance to be sold. The profits from the sale will be used to purchase new vehicles for patrol police officers and other specialized vehicles.

"In certain agencies, expenses related to the maintenance of vehicles is unacceptable and principal steps should be taken in this regard. Within the framework of the governmental changes, until the end of the year, the number of vehicles of various state agencies will be reduced. About 1000 cars will be transferred to the Ministry of Finance for sale and the received money will be used to purchase special vehicles for patrol officers, environmental operations and similar special needs in order to enable our agencies to work better. The circle of persons who have the right to use a personal car will also be significantly restricted," said Bakhtadze.
