ATM Thief Shot Dead in Poti

In an attempt to steal a deposit machine, a thief was fatally shot in Poti. According to the current information, the unidentified person attacked a policeman and wounded him with a blunt object. The police immediately fired a gun, injuring the man in the head.

Emergency services took the thief to the Zugdidi referral hospital. According to the doctors, the injured was comatose and died shortly after. As the doctors state, the patient was suffering form internal bleeding.

The MIA is conducting an investigation under Article 197 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies attempted robbery. The investigation is being carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office.
