New Public Basketball Court Opens in Didube

The “Zaza Pachulia” Basketball Court has opened in the Didube district. The project was a collaboration between the Didube District Council and gas and oil company Gulf. The court fully meets international basketball standards.

The opening of the facility was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, Ilia Eloshvili. According to him, having these types of sports facilities is vital for the capital.

"Every new sporting infrastructure is vital for the city. This particular object is especially important for several reasons, not least of all because it was implemented in the name of Zaza Pachulia. The field meets international standards and I am glad that this project has been added to Tbilisi, "said Eloshvili.

A small park was set up near the court which includes play equipment for children.

Zaza Pachulia opened the court alongside Irma Zavradashvili, governor of the Didube district, Giorgi Devadze, director general of Gulf, and Ilia Tsulaia and Tarash Shurghaya – majoritarian MPs of the Parliament and Sakrebulo (City Assembly).

Within the scope of the court opening, the final match of the project – ‘Zaza Plays Streetball’ was held, where the winners of the project and Zaza Pachulia played a game of street basketball.
