5 Georgian Citizens Arrested In US
It has been reported that US law enforcement agencies exposed an organized criminal group engaged in automobile fraud in the USA.
A group consisting of 25 people from the US, Ukraine, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey and a total of 5 citizens of Georgia were all arrested this week in Michigan, Florida, and New York.
The group opened automobile front companies to which US citizens transferred an estimated total of $4.5 million in order to buy cars. The criminals were arrested while in hiding with the money they had accumulated.
Standing accused of conspiracy to commit fraud, the members are facing up to 30 years in prison. It was reported that the criminals may face charges of conspiracy to launder money, which can lead to an additional 20 years in prison.
