Chess Champions Playing with Wine

Five-time world champion Nona Gaprindashvili and former European champion Zurab Azmaiparashvili played chess with white and red wine.

The event was held in the historical building of the First Winery Tbilisi on July 31 , the game itself however, ended in a draw.

The duel was timed to coincide with the 43rd World Chess Olympiad, which starts in Batumi on 23 September and will last until 5 October; participation in it will accept about 4,000 players from 180 countries.

Within the framework of the event, a sketch of the form for the Georgian national team was presented at the forthcoming Olympiad. The design was created by Mariam Lordkipanidze, whose sketches won the contest.

The event was organized by the Georgian Chess Federation and the organizing committee of the 43rd World Chess Olympiad.
