De Facto Abkhazian “President” to Meet Assad
The so called president of Georgia’s Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia, Raul Khajimba, is going to meet the President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, in the near future.
The information was released by the breakaway Abkhazian news agency Apsnypress, which reports that the so called delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia arrived on a working visit to the Syrian Arab Republic.
The agency also says that along with other issues, the sides will discuss preparation works ahead of the meeting of Assad and Khajimba.
Syria recognized Georgia’s breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent countries on May 29, a step which was denounced by the wider international community, except Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Nauru.
Despite this, Bashal al-Assad has already hosted the “leader’ of breakaway S. Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov.
The meeting of Bibilov and Assad took place on July 24 in Damascus, where the sides signed a “Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.”
Now, as reported, Assad is going to host another de facto leader in Damascus.
