Public Hearings on Phys Ed and Sports Law in West Georgia
The review process on the Draft Law on Physical Education and Sports has moved to the western regions of Georgia. Ozurgeti, Batumi, Zugdidi and Kutaisi hosted four public hearings this week. The discussions on the draft law were initiated by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and the Committee on Sport and Youth Affairs of Parliament. Parallel to discussions on the draft law, the Strategy for Accessibility and Development of Mass Sport will be discussed.
Representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and local authorities participated in the public hearings, including Mikheil Kavelashvili, Chairman of the Sports and Youth Affairs Committee of Parliament, and high-ranking officials of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
Discussion of the Draft Law on Physical Education and Sports and Strategy for Accessibility and Development of Mass Sport in the regions began in May and will continue until the end of August, covering all regions of the country. A final meeting will be held in Tbilisi.
