Growth in Number of Social Workers in Georgia

According to the Georgian Association of Social Workers (GASW), the number of social workers in the country has surged from an amount of 30 in 2002 to 940 in 2018, an increase of 3,033%, reports Business Press News.

A growing interest in the profession can imply attention given increasingly to social problems in the country. More staff is surely needed to take specific measures and apply industry knowledge to overcome the challenges.

According to the GASW, social workers are employed in the Social Service Agency, Penitentiary Establishment, National Probation Agency, the Center for Crime Prevention Center, State Fund for Protection and Assistance for Victims of Human Trafficking, Nurse Service, and NGOs.
