Discount Medication for Chronic Illness

Georgia has expanded a program which provides citizens with a number of medicines at a reduced price for people with disabilities and pensioners suffering from chronic diseases of the cardiovascular system, thyroid and lungs.

In order to take advantage of the benefits when purchasing medication included in the list, citizens should contact a family doctor or a rural doctor for the N100 form and prescription. Furthermore, these documents will need to be submitted to any branch of the Social Services Agency and registered with the program.

These medicines can be bought at a 50% - 80% discount in the network of pharmacies PSP, with provision of identification and a prescription.

Since July 2017, the Ministry of Health of Georgia has implemented a program that enables the indigent to buy medicines for the treatment of chronic diseases, and since August 13 2018, all citizens of Georgia can use a 50% discount on medicines to treat Type 2 diabetes.

The Ministry of Health of Georgia plans to expand this program in the near future.
