Wine Export from Georgia up in January-August

Georgia’s National Wine Agency (NWA) reports that in January – August 2018, 52,7 million bottles of wine were exported to 52 countries worldwide, 16% more than in the same period last year.

In total, the income from wine export in January-August 2018 amounted to $ 125,5million, which is 25% higher than this time in 2017.

The top five countries that imported the most bottles of Georgian wine in January-August this year are:  Russia (33270854), Ukraine (6070218), China (4113328), Kazakhstan (2313378) and  Poland (2121474).  

The export growth was also remarkable in European, US, Asian and other traditional markets: Japan 79% (170700), UK - 17% (52732), USA - 2% (291640), Romania - 390% (84 654), Czech Republic-  65% (30456), Germany -32% (339 370),  Lithuania - 12% (280 338), Netherlands -  25% (42735), Latvia - 12% (1077696), Estonia –2% (336302),Kyrgyzstan -81% (140370), and  Belarus- 12% (1012062).

In addition to wine, 11,7 million bottles of Georgian brandy and 238,9 thousand bottles of chacha were exported abroad in January-August of this year.

In total, income from the exports of alcoholic drinks amounted to $198,2 million and it is 19% growth compared to the data of the same period of 2017.
