Foreign Direct Investment in Georgia Amounts to $389 Mln in Q2 2018

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Georgia amounted to $389.2 million in Q2 2018, which is 9.4% more than Q2 2017.

The information was released by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to the data, in Q2 2018 the largest investors in Georgia were Azerbaijan - 20.7% share of total investments, the Czech Republic - 20%, the Netherlands - 16.8%, the United Kingdom - 12.2% and the US – 7.3%.

The share of FDI by the top three economic sectors reached 64.2% last quarter. The largest share of FDI was allocated to the energy sector, reaching $108.8 million. The transportation and communications sector was second, with $77 million, followed by the financial sector with $4.64 million.
