2 Dead In Drunk-Driving Accident

An accident occurred in the Gldani district, on the outskirts of Tbilisi, on Tuesday. A car was being driven by a young man who, according to the investigation, was drunk. He was detained after killing 2 people while driving, a 27-year-old woman and 3-year-old child died on the spot.

The detainee is charged under the article "Violation of the rules for the safety of traffic or the operation of transport, committed in a state of intoxication, resulting in the death of two or more people."

The accused faces imprisonment for a term of 8 to 13 years.

From January to July, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia recorded 1970 violations of traffic safety rules or the operation of transport. Of these, 182 road accidents led to fatalities.
