Young Girl Hit by Train

A passenger train on its way to exit the Georgian capital, knocked down a 20-year-old girl which resulted in instant death, the tragedy occurred on Tuesday morning. 

According to preliminary information, the girl crossed the railway in the area of Peikarta street, the driver began to signal her and tried to slow the train however, there was not enough time or distance for the train to stop.

According to the passengers, the girl had earphones on and most likely did not hear the train signaling her due to this fact. The driver was taken to a police station to give a full statement.

An investigation has been initiated under the article on negligence and/or violation of safety rules for the movement or operation of railway, water, air or hanging transport, which resulted in the death of a person. If found guilty, this act is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 7 years.
