Registration for Vocational Education Programs Opens

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia has announced that registration for vocational education courses will be open from October 3 to October 19.

Georgian citizens who have attended school through at least the ninth grade are eligible. Vocational training is offered in dozens of fields, including tourism, construction, engineering, agriculture, transport, art, and information technology. The ministry emphasizes that there is no upper age limit to attend a vocational school, and encourages people of all ages to consider it. It is possible to register for multiple courses in a given field.

Vocational education programs are available in agriculture, construction, tourism, and railway transportation on the basis of a dual or work-based teaching approach that involves more than 40 private companies.

To register for vocational education, prospective students should bring their ID card to their local resource center or register online at www.vet.emis.ge. Information is also available online about the admissions test, including practice tests.

After registering, prospective students will receive an examination card with information about the location and date of admissions testing. Based on the test results, applicants can review and update their list of preferences for programs, taking into account data available on test scores and admissions for previous years.

Members of ethnic minority groups may take the admissions test in Armenian, Azerbaijani, or Russian, if needed. If accepted into a vocational education program, they will then be given support to learn the Georgian language. Individuals with special educational needs are eligible for alternative testing procedures. This is the first year that the ministry is offering dual programs for people with disabilities.
