Unfinished Construction In Tbilisi

Today in the capital of Georgia there are 170 unfinished projects, some under construction and others halted completely. Tbilisi City Hall is developing an action plan to solve the problems associated with these unfinished buildings both in the city center and on its outskirts.

Sometimes, construction resumes on certain buildings but soon after stops again due to financial problems in the construction companies. Tbilisi City Hall intends to seek an individual approach to each type of protracted construction site. In some cases, construction will be resumed, and in some - dismantling will occur.

The unfinished projects are divided into four types, from buildings where construction is suspended but where construction companies want to complete the construction process, to projects that do not have owners and will be dismantled or bought by other companies.

The vice-mayor stressed that when issuing building permits; the Mayor’s Office will be carefully assessing the situation every time, so as not to get another unfinished construction site with all the ensuing consequences.
