Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Giorgi Kobulia, opened the 34th Plenary Session of the PostEurop in Tbilisi, an event hosted by the Georgian Post.

The high-rank officials of 52 postal operators from 49 countries arrived in Georgia to attend the plenary session.

Postal reforms, development plans and the possibility of strengthening cooperation between member states of the PostEurop were the key issues of discussion.

“Hosting the PostEurop plenary session in Tbilisi is a confirmation of the progress that Georgia has achieved in terms of postal services,” Kobulia told the event participants.

As the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted, it is a great honor for Georgia to host such an event. 

“Postal operators are an irreplaceable part of e-commerce since orders need to be delivered to buyers. There are great expectations regarding the innovations that postal operators offer and how to reach even higher service standards,” he said.

The Minister underlined that Georgian Post services are very impressive and of a high-standard.

“I believe that the progress that we have made in this direction has been seen by many countries around the world. Our guests are here to learn something from us as we will also share their experience,” said Kobulia.

PostEurop is the association of European public postal operators, one of the constituent unions of the Universal Postal Union. PostEurop was created in 1993 to simplify the exchange of mail in Europe, a task previously undertaken by the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations.
