ADB to Allocate EUR 255 mln to Help Build Rikoti-Zestaponi Road
According to Imedinews, an agreement between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank was signed with the purpose of financing the "East-West Express Highway Improvement Project".
The agreement includes the allocation of EUR 255,297,000 to the East-West Highway railroad development and building of a 12 km, 4-lane road between Khevi and Ubisa.
The document was signed by the Minister of Finance Ivane Machavariani and Director of Permanent Representative of the Asian Development Bank Yeshim Elhan Khayalari.
Due to complex geologic conditions, the project includes construction of 35 bridges, with a total length of 8.3km, and 20 tunnels of 9.4km in total.
The project is to be implemented by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia through the Roads Department and is expected to be complete by June 2024.
