The Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) released a report on the average monthly salaries in the country in 2017, which reads that men’s salary exceeds women’s salary by 35.6% in nearly every field.
Geostat says that last year, the average monthly nominal salary for women and men increased by 5.3 and 7.2% respectively compared to 2016, and the average female salary amounted to 770 GEL and the average salary of men - 1.197 GEL.
Average monthly earnings of employees by sex in 2000-2017 shows that men’s salary has always been much higher in Georgia than women’s and last year it reached the maximum difference.
