EU Launches Extended Producer Responsibility Consultations in Georgia
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is a policy approach to waste management that is successfully implemented throughout Europe.
With the EU’s support, there are plans for EPR to be implemented in Georgia too. The country’s national obligations under EPR were discussed at a meeting in Tbilisi on 9 October.
The event was attended by over 200 representatives of central and local governments, international and donor organizations, private sector, chambers of commerce and business associations.
The event was a joint effort between Georgia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and the EU, the United Nations Development Programme and the Government of Sweden.
