Police Bust Border Hoppers with Baby in Trunk
Police have arrested four people at the Georgia-Turkey border for attempting to illegally cross the Georgian border.
There was an infant in the trunk of the vehicle.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that two Turkish citizens, Aikut O, 32, and Nazime Sh, 59, along with two Georgian citizens Malkhaz Sh, 40, and Natia B, 35, were arrested for attempting to illegally cross the Georgian State border in a group.
According to the Ministry, the four were attempting to reach Turkey while avoiding the official border crossing.
The car belonged to one of the Georgians arrested, and had two women and an infant squeezed into the trunk, in an attempt to bypass the checkpoint and cross the Georgian border and enter Turkey.
The baby has been taken to Samtskhe-Javakheti Regional Hospital’s social service.
According to the Ministry, the investigation is going to be placed under article 19-344 of the Criminal Code for the attempted illegal crossing of the state border.
