Ruling Team-Backed Candidate Casts Her Ballot

Presidential candidate Salome Zurabishvili, who is supported by the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, has cast her ballot at Krtsanisi #3 polling station.

After voting, Zurabishvili told reporters that no matter what the results are, she respects the will of the people.

“I have voted for a peaceful, united, fair and democratic Georgia. I hope that the time of hatred has ended in this country,” she said.

The candidate added she counts on her supporters and hopes there will be no run-offs.

On October 28, the last direct elections of the president are held in Georgia. Citizens will have to make choice between 25 candidates.

Election precincts have been open since 8 am and they will be closed at 20:00. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes in today's elections, the second round of elections will be announced, where two candidates with the best results will be elected.
