Kutaisi City Hall to Be Renovated in 2019

1 November, the Deputy Mayor of Kutaisi Nino Tvaltvadze met with GGI representatives from USAID, an American organization that runs international development programs, as well as architect Maka Shelekidze. The meeting discussed the renovation of the city hall to make the building more accessible for disabled persons.

The architect, mayor, and representatives visited the building and spoke about the plans. The first project on the building should be finished by the end of the year. Renovations are being funded from the local budget as the building is used by the local government.

According to local government, the city hall will be made accessible for those with disabilities by the end of next year.

A statement by the city hall said that the plans reflect the Open Government Partnership Action Plan which aims to improve the ability of disabled persons to take part in political and public life in the municipality of Kutaisi. The new design of the building should make it easier for disabled persons to access the city hall, and therefore participate in these areas.
