During the one-month course participants, will study basic, communicative English, which will be used to offer, sell, and provide services to tourists. The project is implemented within the tourism development school.

Adjara Tourism Department has also prepared training videos showcasing English skills on how to offer services to tourists. The videos were already distributed to the resort Goderdzi's family-guest houses. Its distribution is planned in all municipalities.

"It is especially important for tourists to travel in the mountainous region of Adjara. In this case one of the main components is to offer them how to communicate tourist services effectively. Our goal is to educate the tourist business representatives to simplify communication among them and tourists.  At the first stage, we made use of the resort in Goderdzi, where the number of tourists is growing annually and therefore, English communication skills are of great importance. At the second stage we have already selected the village Sakhalvsho together with the resort Goderdzi, where the main platform of migratory bird watching is located. Owners of existing guest-houses have been hosting European tourists since 2012 and thus, require the English language. We are planning to continue the project in other tourist municipalities as well", said Sulkhan Glonti, Chairman of the Tourism Department of Adjara.

The Department is implementing English language courses within the tourism development school. In total, the Department has been able to train service personnel in more than 2350 tourism sectors in the region since 2012.
