Georgia's Airspace Load Increases by 6.8% in 2018

The Georgian Air Aviation Agency, under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable development of Georgia, reports that Georgia's airspace load increased by 6.8% in January-October 2018.

In particular, the agency says that in January - October, 127,271 instrumental flights were performed in the airspace of Georgia. This indicator is 8,118 flights more and 6.8% more than the data of the previous year.

The number of flyovers carried out in January-October 2018, amounted to 87,301 flights, which is 1,521 flights or 2.1% more than in 2017.

The Georgian Air Aviation Agency added that the growth trend is maintained in airports throughout Georgia. The agency served 39,970 aircraft in three international and two local airports of Georgia over the 10 months, which is an increase of 18.7% compared to the same period of 2017 (6,297 flights).

The flight distance in Georgian airspace in January-October period is 35,004.971 km. This indicator is 34,866 km and 0.1% more than the same period last year.

In terms of the growth of the number of passengers in Georgian airports, 73% of passengers who took regular or charter flights in January-October 2018 in Georgia’s three international airports were tourists.

Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, Batumi International Airport and Kutaisi David Aghmashenebeli International Airport served 1,573,189 international travelers in 10 months of 2018.

Overall, these airports served 4,354,423 passengers in total in the last 10 months, which is a 23% increase in comparison to last year.
