National Geographic Traveler: No-one Hosts a Feast like the Georgians
National Geographic Traveler, one of the most prominent travel journals worldwide, recently published an article "A Guest at the Feast", sharing impressions on traveling to Georgia.
David Farley, author of the article, describes Georgian dishes and Georgian table traditions throughout the article. He goes on to further explore the villages of Racha, family traditions, hospitality, national dance and typical dishes, including the various types of Khachapuri.
"No one hosts a feast like the Georgians", says Farley. "In the mountainous Racha district, supras - gatherings of friends and family over food - are long, lively and distinctly alcoholic affairs, where tables creak under the weight of dishes, the wine flows freely, and the toastmaster must be obeyed at all times".
The journalist traveled to Georgia within the framework of a project run by the National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
