Nenskra Hydro: Implementing Educational Projects in Svaneti

JSC Nenskra Hydro, the Nenskra Hydropower Plant (HPP) project company resumed its social and educational projects along with its construction works.

In the villages of Chuberi and Nakra, free English language classes, that currently have 100 people enrolled, are offered to 18-60 year olds. By the end of the year, the company will also finance computer courses for all interested members of the two communities.

The educational program aims to create more opportunities for the local population and increase their competitiveness within the labor market. In the future, Nenskra Hydro plans to finance various vocational trainings, including advanced ones for the members of the community, willing to be employed at the Nenskra HPP construction.

Financing the educational programs is a vital component to Nenskra Hydro’s so called Community Investment Program. The Community Investment Program, for its part, is an investment project based on the needs’ assessment of the local population, with the purpose of contributing to small infrastructure projects implementation, funding of vocational education, and promotion of SMEs in Chuberi and Nakra villages.

JSC Nenskra Hydro is a project-based company established 2015 as a result of cooperation between Korea Water Resources Corporation K-water and JSC Partnership Fund. The company will construct the Nenskra Hydropower Plant in the Nenskra and Nakra river Valleys in Mestia Municipality of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. The 280 MW Nenskra Hydropower Plant will generate approximately 1’200.00 GWh of electricity annually, which will be fully consumed by the Georgian market.
