Talks Underway to Bring Milan Academy of Football to Georgia

Mikheil Batiashvili, Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, began negotiations this week with Milan Acadmy – a Milan-based organization that encourages the development of youth football. A delegation from the Academy, led by Research and Development Manager Elisabet Spina and Head of Milan Academy international projects Alessandro Gianni, visited Tbilisi to meet with Batiashvili. The Milanese side expresses its readiness to actively engage in the implementation of the project and will offer their methodology to teach children and young people, develop schools and various alternative training formats, and train local coaches. The project might involve piloting new instructional methodologies in several public schools, tailored to local needs and conditions.

During the meeting, Batiashvili called the opening of the Milan Academy of Football in Georgia a very important project. "Improvement of sports culture in adolescents and the introduction of a healthy lifestyle is our priority, and the Ministry will implement many important [related] projects," said the minister.
