Developing the Agriculture Industry in Georgia

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) will implement a new project in Georgia with the help of the organization "Land O'Lakes International Development" (Land O'Lakes). The duration of the project is 5 years, the budget of which is $17 million.

Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Georgia, Mr. Roy Wilson, the Organization "Land O'Lakes" and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). The parties discussed issues related to the launch of the new project "Food for Progress" in Georgia and evaluated the importance of the project.

During the meeting, the Minister talked about the success and future plans achieved in the agrarian sector. The focus was also on the importance of development of the livestock sector.

The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, National Food Agency, Georgian Innovations and Technologies Agency, Georgian Farmers Association and various private sector and NGOs.
