Kakheti Highway Side Road Rehabilitated
The Infrastructure Development Service of Tbilisi City Hall announced Monday that the renovation works on the left-hand side frontage road of the Kakheti highway have been completed. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, met with Deputy Mayor Irakli Bendeliani to discuss the project.
The full rehabilitation of the 7.3 km long section (from George W. Bush Street to the Tbilisi International Airport) included constructing a new curb, sidewalk, drainage network and bicycle path.
“Underground works were replaced with new infrastructure, for which I want to thank Georgian Water and Power. The water and wastewater network, as well as the drainage system, has been regulated. In fact, everything was rehabilitated. On the other side of the central road, similar works are expected to be completed in January. From next year we will be able to rehabilitate Kakheti Highway, which is quite a large task. This section of the road is strategically important for the city,” said Kaladze.
Georgian Water and Power invested two million GEL in the project. Eight million GEL was spent from the capital budget on the project. The rehabilitation works were conducted by the company GE Group, which won the tender in a competitive bidding process.
